We will cover one book every two weeks. Dolls are very welcome in class, but not necessary.

Art-Watercolor (E)

Description: Artist Eileen Fuller is pleased to teach drawing, design, watercolor techniques and painting. The foundation lessons will result in students achieving strong designs and pleasing finished paintings. Making art is FUN, but making GOOD ART is even more so. All painting supplies will be provided. (Pencil & eraser and plain paper or a small sketchbook would also be necessary.) Eileen Fuller has been teaching adults and children watercolor painting for over 5 years in Northern Nevada. Description: It’s never too early to think about your garden! In this class we will learn about seeds and plants (parts, uses, capillary action etc.) as well as how to start a garden (soil, fertilizers, compost, worms). We will be doing activities throughout the session including growing sprouts to eat, make our own seedling pots, grow our own seedlings, and of course, we’ll be playing with dirt (and maybe a worm or two). My goal is to make this an entry level science class with labs and experiments to keep it fun. There will be some homework, mostly in the guise of growing things.

Description: Marissa Crook, who is 16 years old and has 9 years of ballet experience, will be teaching this ballet class. The girls should come to class with their hair in a bun, a ponytail, or pigtails. Preferably, the girls should wear a leotard or a princess/fairy dress-up outfit, or they may wear a t-shirt with shorts. They will also need ballet shoes, and tights or socks and a water bottle. The theme for this session is princess beauty (the fruits of the spirit are jewelry for our inward selves.) The girls will perform a recital at the Showcase Program, which they will be working on throughout the session. We will work on traditional ballet barre, stretching, and center exercises each week, along with the practice of all five basic ballet positions and many graceful ballet moves.

Horrible History: The Measly Middle Ages (E)

Description: This is a boys only history class, with all of the icky stuff left in! We will be focusing mainly on England from 1066-1485: the Black Death, castles, the feudal system, kings, knights, noblemen, wars, battles, bloodshed, deception, and murder. This is a focused history class so that they can learn this specific stuff really well, and never forget it. Students will build catapults, crossbows, bows, slingshots, and other ghastly gadgets from Medieval times. We will also do other fun Medieval stuff. Highly recommended for rambunctious boys.

Cake and Cookie Decorating (E)

Description: This semester we will be learning the Wilton cake decorating method for basic cake decorating and decorating with fondant. Students will learn how to bake, fill, and ice cakes. They will also learn how to cover and decorate cakes in fondant. We will learn how to decorate cookies with royal icing, giving them a nice smooth finish! Students will be required to bake and ice cakes and have them ready for class. The students will need to get the Wilton Decorating Basics Student kit and the Wilton Gum Paste and Fondant Student Kit. Both kits can be bought at Michael's with a coupon. There will be other supply's and that list will be given in the first class.

We will use a 4-step prayer format of Praise, Confession, Thanksgiving and Intercession using scripture as our guide. Scripture praying is praying back to God His very words on behalf of the one for whom we are interceding. We will start as a group and then spend the time of intercession split up in groups of two. Please join me in prayer for our kids. We will begin promptly because, as you will soon discover, time will fly by! All you need to participate is a heart for your children and a bible.

Description: Sign language is a language, just like Spanish or French. The class will begin by introducing basic communications like greetings, common phrases, body part names, colors and numbers. Our teacher is an American Sign Language instructor at TMCC and has also worked with young children in the school system.
