Additional Information

Eagle Students join us on a Winter Ecology Hike with Great Basin Outdoor School!

3rd - 12th grade students will strap on snowshoes and trek through Galena Regional Park learning about winter, animal adaptations, and forest ecology. Students will participate in team building and hands-on activiities as they learn about the forest around them.

Snowshoes are provided by Great Basin Outdoor School (GBOS). Students will need to bring a backpack, water bottle, lunch, and winter clothes such as hats, gloves, and snow pants are recommended. If you do not have winter clothing, please let Megan know as soon as possible. GBOS has winter clothing available to loan, but are in limited numbers. Parents can attend and are encouraged to bring their own snowshoes or rent them in town. Sporting good stores such as REI and Bobo's have snowshoe rentals available. GBOS has a limited number of adult snowshoes, that parents can borrow if need be. If parents wish to borrow snowshoes, please rsvp with Megan asap as they are first come, first serve.

This field trip is for students 3rd grade or 8 years old and older due to the size of equipment provided by GBOS. Younger siblings will not be allowed to join parents with this program.

Please plan to arrive no later than 9:35am at the Visitor Center to check in, use restrooms, and gear up for the program. Those late to the program will not be able to participate, as the hike will have already began. The field trip begins at 10:00am and concludes at 1:00pm.

Let's kick off the semester with a treak in the snow!
